a few weeks back i headed to lil’ baci taverna at yonge and davisville for a rather merry media tasting dinner. about 20 dishes were brought out to sample throughout the night, and by the end we were all stuffed to the brim. a number of them involved cheese, my favourite of which was the beets and imported burrata, drizzled with olive oil. it was fantastic. i also dove into the upside down chocolate tart with mascarpone (another version featured lemon curd) while the ricotta cavatelli was dotted with fava beans, roast tomatoes and freshly grated parmigiano reggiano, also brought in from the motherland. finally, the funghi pizza was strewn with cremini, shimeji and oyster ‘shrooms. the lot sat atop gooey taleggio and was finished off with some truffle oil.
